Having retrieved Nadil's head for Lord Lykouleon, the Dragon Knights journey back to Draqueen. However, distractions do arise. Rath, true to his nature, runs after any demon rumored to ravish the countryside, Thatz pricks up his ears at the very mention of treasure or food, and Rune tries to keep the two of them on course. Along the way they kill (often inadvertently) many demons including the Man-Eating Witch, the Spirit of the Dark Swamp, the demon fortune-tellers the Star Sisters, and the witch Jilge, all while interacting with a cast of characters that includes the thief Kitchel, and, perhaps more importantly, the fortuneteller Cesia who, once learning about their mission, decides that she would like to endear herself to the Dragon Lord by returning the head herself.
