As Kai-stern completes a diplomatic mission to rally support from neighboring lands for a battle with the demon army, Rath's distrust for Cesia grows and Rune's longing to return to his Faerie form becomes unbearable. But when Bierrez's army attacks the castle, it is Cesia who stands up to it, and Rune who heals a mortally injured Thatz. News of newfound powers spread throughout the castle, accompanied by a revitalized hope, and a much needed hope it is. With more and more demons popping up around the castle grounds, the resources of the Dragon Clan are just about exhausted. They emerge victorious, but greatly damaged. Lykouleon sends the Dragon Knights out again but this time on three separate missions. Rath goes with Cesia to Mt. Emphaza to resurrect the Dragon Dog Crewger, who was killed in the attack. Thatz is once again paired with Kitchel and charged with seeking out the three treasures. And Rune, with his nearly restored healing powers, heads for the Faerie Forest to confirm reports that the inhabitants there are disappearing.
