Lana is 10 years old and she's deaf. Throughout the story, Lana discusses what it is like to be deaf and some of the things that she uses to help her learn at school and to communicate with others. One day at school, while Lana uses sign language to speak to her hearing impaired friends, she notices that many of the 'hearing' kids are standing around watching them. That's when Lana comes up with a great idea! Can Lana's idea bridge the gap between the hearing and non-hearing worlds?
