Description

This book introduces readers to different types of islands, from rocky islands to sand, volcanic and coral reef islands. It examines the different plants, animals and people that have adapted to live on islands and how islands can be small, tourist destinations or large, city spaces. There is a list of 10 fascinating facts at the back of the book and a map showing where the places mentioned in the fact file are. Words in bold in the text can be found in the glossary. A combination of clear diagrams and large photographs help the readers understanding of the text.

Author description

Chris Durbin has over twenty years experience in geographical education as a teacher, adviser, consultant, editor and author. He is particularly noted for his work in geographical education television and the Internet. The consultant, John Lace, is a Senior Adviser for the East Sussex School Improvement Service. Developing primary geography in schools has been John's passion for many years. John encourages schools to make geography an important part of their curriculum.
