DescriptionEvery year on the Isle of Struay, there is a grand concert, where the islanders play fiddles, recite poetry, and sing and dance in front of their friends and neighbours. This is a major social event in a small community like Struay. Katie Morag is very excited indeed, and she plans to sing her favourite song. Arriving for the concert too, are Katie Morag's uncles, Sven and Sean, who are world-famous musicians and utterly identical. Nobody on Struay can tell them apart. On the big evening, one of the pair loses his voice and it is down to Katie Morag McColl to save the concert from disaster. Promotion infoA classic Katie Morag story with a fresh new look in a gorgeous large format Reviews"[Katie Morag's] adventures are so appealing to children from all backgrounds" The Times Author descriptionMairi Hedderwick was born in Gourock, Scotland. At seventeen she took a job as a mother's help on the Isle of Coll in the Hebrides, beginning a life-long love affair with islands and their small communities. Her children were brought up there and now some of her grandchildren. Mairi's island world is delightfully reflected in the imaginary island of Struay where Katie Morag and her family live. As well as creating children's books Mairi writes and illustrates travel books for adults. She spends a lot of time visiting schools and is always accompanied by Katie Morag's teddy, which travels with her in a black bag. |
