Sergeant Frank Hardy, an ex-soldier from Her Majesty's 57th Regiment, is scraping out a living in a small New Zealand settlement by driving a coach and playing rigged card games. When he's asked to find two missing Scandinavian settlers he refuses - until he remembers the horror of the time his own brother went missing. But while he searches for the bodies, someone from his army past returns with revenge in mind, and the body count begins.

Not the Faintest Trace is the first in a series of historical mysteries, each one embedded in a continuing family saga but complete in itself. Fans of mysteries by Anne Perry and Charles Todd, and of well-researched historical fiction by writers like Patrick O'Brian and Winston Graham will enjoy these books.
