In 1920, eight men who had served in the Great War took up soldier settler blocks at Tuggeranong, on land that had formerly belonged to the Cunningham family. They faced years of uncertain markets, isolation, drought, weed infestation and the rabbit plague, in a decade that was to test the strongest of men and culminate in the Depression.
